Having a myriad of songs that are selling well on the market and radio, apparently did not make musician Ed Sheeran manage to escape the ridicule of netizens. Often a laughing stock because of his natural red hair, Ed also blames an episode from the South Park cartoon as the culprit.
South Park itself is an adult cartoon that first aired in 1997 and has now reached its 23rd season. As an adult-only cartoon, South Park is loved by its fans because it is never merciless in mocking all races, religions, ethnicities, and social classes, including the 'gingers' aka redheads.
In one of the episodes in the ninth season entitled Ginger Kids, the main character Eric Cartman is told that he suffers from a disease called 'gingervitus' which makes his hair red and has many facial freckles. This fictitious disease eventually spreads beyond South Park and infects the real world where South Park viewers accuse natural redheads of being sick.
As a red-haired singer, Ed Sheeran also admitted that he did not like this episode of South Park and blamed the creators for all the ridicule that often befalls him on the internet.
“At first Americans never made fun of redheads, but that one episode of South Park messed things up. That episode ruined my life. First time to America, everyone loves my hair. Now, because of that episode, my hair is always a joke," he said.
In England, where Ed is from, discrimination against redheads has become a negative culture that has ruined many people's lives. In fact, prejudice against redheads is now considered hate speech.
It's a shame that Ed and the other red hair owners now can't live in peace because of an episode of South Park that has gone worldwide.
Although presenting themselves as satirical stories, in fact South Park jokes often fail to convey the message they want to convey to the audience. As a result, there are now many rude jokes that netizens have adopted from the South Park cartoon. In fact, the series is trying to ask the audience to do the opposite. /celebrties.id
