Senior actress Betty White died at the age of 99 years on Friday (12/31/2021) local time. Before being gone, Betty was known as a friendly and loving person.
Living almost a century certainly gives a lot of life experiences that the Golden Girls star goes through. Especially in matters of love.
Betty White was first married in 1942 to Dick Barker, an American fighter pilot. The marriage did not last long, only six months.
In an interview Betty said they got married because they just wanted to have sex legally.
"I got married the first time because we wanted to sleep together. It only lasted six months and we were only in bed for six months," he said at the time.
Then he married a casting agent named Lane Allen in 1947. The two met when Betty was casting a film and began to focus on the world of acting.
Unfortunately their marriage only lasted for two years because Allen wanted his ex-wife to quit the world of entertainment and become a housewife.
Twice failed to build a household, Betty admitted that she was not traumatized to open her heart. Until finally he met Allen Ludden in a quiz show on television and made a strong first impression.
Even so, the two of them didn't have any heart at all, especially since Ludden was still married at that time. Fate brought them together again, a few weeks after Ludden's wife died he was reunited with Betty on a television show.
Ludden began to feel comfortable and his three children also quickly became friends with the actress. It also makes Ludden think of proposing to Betty.
But unfortunately Betty refused his proposal because she admitted that she was dating another man at the time. That was one of his biggest regrets until the end of his life.
Although he did not reveal who the man really was, he deeply regretted why he did not accept Ludden's proposal at that time and instead chose to be with the man who hurt him.
Ludden is not a man who gives up easily. He deliberately put the proposal ring as a necklace to remind Betty of the proposal he submitted at that time.
Although it took a long time, Betty finally melted and married him in 1963. Ludden is said to be the true love of the actress and her soul mate.
Betty was so devastated when Ludden died in 1981. She also often said that she missed her late husband.
"I don't think Betty White is afraid of death at all because she always wanted to be with her beloved late husband, Allen Ludden. She believed that she could be with him again," said her best friend, Jeff Witjas. /hot.detik.com
