The actress continued, "He's a boy from Alabama and I'm blonde," referring to the couple's additional ties to the 1994 movie.

Anya Taylor-Joy is disclosing her unexpected relationship to Forrest Gump.

On Saturday, July 6, Letterboxd shared a video of an interview with the 28-year-old Queen's Gambit actress, who is promoting her latest movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga with co-star Chris Hemsworth. This Saturday marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic movie's premiere, which starred Tom Hanks as the title character.

Hemsworth, 40, questioned Taylor-Joy in the video if she had experienced anything "special" on the famous bench from the film.

"Yes, it was a "complete accident," she said in response to her husband's unintentional proposal on the Forrest Gump bench in Savannah.

The Dune: Part Two star added, "And he's a boy from Alabama and I'm blonde so...it just happened." "I cry like a baby when I hear that music."

The photo was captioned "Thinking about Anya Taylor-Joy'sweddingproposal today 💍" by Letterboxd.

Before celebrating a second marriage in Venice, Italy, in October 2023, the British-American actor secretly wed musician Malcolm McRae in New Orleans in April 2022.

The relationship between McRae, 30, and Taylor-Joy—who were born on April 16—was previously unknown, despite the fact that they frequently mention each other on social media.

The bench played a crucial part in Robert Zemeckis' 1994 film, which starred Sally Field as Forrest's mother and Robin Wright as his love interest. Forrest tells strangers he meets while waiting for a bus about his life story during the majority of the story, which is told in flashbacks.

But it's unlikely that McRae and Taylor-Joy exchanged vows on the exact bench Hanks used while filming. Currently, the bench is housed at Georgia's Savannah History Museum.

At the Chippewa Square Bus Stop in Savannah, where the scenes were filmed, the couple most likely got engaged on a bench just like this one. /people.com
